Stand your ground law 2

So watching the news tonight and they said the state of Florida is goin to try and revise the "stand your ground law" to try and help domestic violence victims.

  1. I think that would be a good significant change within the law especially since many people feel threatened in abused/ domestic violence relationships. The fear they have for their life or safety can be a reason for them to use excessive force against their attacker and having a clear explanation of the law will give society a better understanding of when and if it applies to their situation.

  2. I believe that is a step in the right direction. I have witnessed a situation where a woman was nearly killed by her boyfriend. The police offered to take him to jail, but lets be honest, they get out. Restraining orders only work if the police get there before someone dies. If the concept of the law is to be able to protect yourself when in fear, shouldn't this law apply? If you cannot protect yourself, then what purpose does the law serve?
